Using the lesson materials you will find on this website, you can prepare yourself for the Basic Civic Integration Examination Abroad. You can also practise the exam with the sample exams. Have you done all that? If so, you're ready to take the civic integration examination abroad. Taking the exam costs money. You can sign up for the exam using the application form Integration Abroad.

Make an appointment for the exam

You can take the exam in your country of origin or the country for which you have a residence permit. You will receive a reply by e-mail within five working days of submitting your registration form. The payment request is also included in this e-mail. You can find out what the exam costs on the DUO website. There is also the application form Integration Abroad.

Once the payment has been received by DUO, you will receive an e-mail from DUO explaining how to make an appointment. This also contains your candidate number that you can provide when making the appointment. You can make the appointment with the Dutch representation in the country of origin or in the country of permanent residence. What should I take to the exam?

Once you have made an appointment for the exam using the form, you will receive confirmation. This is the appointment confirmation. Take this appointment confirmation with you to the exam. You must also take a valid passport with you. If you don’t have a valid passport, contact the embassy or consulate in advance. Also bring a recent colour passport photo. Make sure that the passport photo is in accordance with the Dutch government's requirements for passport photos of the Dutch government.
